MARY THERESA ROWLANDS
Is is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Theresa Rowlands (nee Dalton) of Jean de Baie, NL (formerly of Stephenville, NL) on Monday, August 5th, 2019. Surrounded by her loving family, Mary passed peacefully at home, at the age of 93 years.
Mary is survived by her children Angela (Clarence Casey - CBS, NL), Donna (David Weber - London, ON), Peter (Brenda - Lansdowne, ON), David (Cynthia - Gander, NL), Joe (Julie - Dartmouth, NS), John (Colette - Lawrencetown, NS), Ray (Brenda Thistle - Mount Pearl, NL), Philip (Laura - Embrun, ON), Cathy (Tony White - Shediac, NB). She also leaves behind a loving legacy of twenty-three grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren and a large number of nieces and nephews; her dearest among them, Gerald Dalton.
Born on Colinet Island, May 2, 1926, she received her nursing training in St. John’s, and then moved to Stephenville Crossing to work at the cottage hospital. It was there that she met and married her lifelong companion Peter. They settled in Stephenville, where they raised their ten children, and in the late seventies the family relocated to Jean de Baie. Throughout her lifetime Mary generously volunteered with various service groups, but first and foremost she was a devoted and loving wife and mother. Her nurturing and loving care was heartfully felt by her children and family, and is also evident in the beautiful gardens and flowers she had always kept. Her legacy of blossoms will continue on. She will be dearly missed.
Mary was predeceased earlier this year by her husband Peter; and previously by parents, James and Angela (Linehan) Dalton; brothers, Dave and Clarence; sister, Anna; her son, James, and granddaughter, Kayla.
Visitation will take place at Wiseman’s Funeral Home, Marystown, on Friday August 9th from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm followed with a Prayer Vigil from 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
